Shabbat is our weekly gift from our Creator! It’s like 7 1/2 weeks of vacation every year.
And on the seventh day Elohim finished His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. So Elohim blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it Elohim rested from all His work that He had done in creation. Genesis 2:2-3 ESV
This page is all about Shabbat, my best tips for getting ready, and resources for helping you enjoy the day.
Prep Day cleanup games
Friday is a great day to get the house clean. After all, who wants to spend a day relaxing, looking at a messy house and all the jobs you didn’t get done and can’t do until tomorrow? I like to employ my children to be able to get everything done. Here are some of the games I have used to keep everyone motivated.
Secret message to-do list
I make a to do list for Friday and post it on the fridge or somewhere everyone will see it. At the bottom of the page, I put a secret message hangman style, and I give them a letter every few jobs they get crossed off. The secret message is often a special movie we get to watch Friday night. It could also be a special activity or treat. This is so simple, but surprisingly motivating!
